Exercise 4.3

Taking inspiration from an image or idea you’ve researched, create your own photographic response to an internet meme. This may be something original, or your own interpretation of an existing meme. It might be funny or profound, but it should make people want to look at it and share it.

Since I have neither any interest nor experience in this form of image creating and posting I decided to read a ‘How to’ site (1)

Step 1: Research

I thought I would be totally unoriginal since this seems to be the point of this nonsense. I would make a cat meme

Step 2: Compose your material.

I have a great number of cat images but mostly I try to make cats look good. I do have a few exceptions:

OMG I have Photoshop so I should be able to do this…..

Step 4: Create it

Now how do I get this to go viral? (2). I can’t believe I am doing this.

step 1: Use #hashtags

Just copy and pasted these from Google…..

step 2: get ranked. 

This seems like a full time job. Post 5 to 10 images per day! I think I will juut take my chances with this one meme.

Don’t have time to do this

4- Make others tag their friends

Would hate people to do this to me so won’t bother

5- Pick a small niche

Too late Cat Memes are certainly not a niche!!!

6- Connect with other accounts

Don’t want to spend my life looking at pathetic cat memes so won’t be doing this.

7- Do shoutouts for shoutouts

Don’t have any idea or interest in finding out what this means.

8- Get in an engagement group

9- Try getting in the explorer page

Don’t think I am going to go viral with this meme….. But I’ll put it up on Instagram and see what happens.

RESULT:

I put the image up on Instagram yesterday afternoon and so far at 7.30 a.m. I have 6 likes!!!! This is way less than I would receive for my ‘usual’ images. I’ll try Twitter now… It’s fun but a jumbo waste of time.
